Okay, so let’s go over some of the basic principles of following a ketogenic diet. It can all sound pretty confusing and complex, but it’s really quite simple when you get down to it. To the uninitiated, you may not know exactly what types of foods are carb heavy. And even the less obvious choices can have way too many carbs for your own good.
How to make sense of all this Ketogenic mumbo jumbo? Just remember, you want low daily carbs (20 grams), a moderate amount of protein, and HIGH amounts of fat to fill in the gaps.
1. Consider asking somebody that is already following the ketogenic diet. A friend of mine actually told me about the diet a few months ago, and I was instantly sold. If you’re the type that likes to feel confident in the research behind things, consider watching Fat Head the documentary. This friend of mine helped me through the basics that I’m about to tell you here. He just had a bachelor party and we had an amazingly short and sweet vacation, including a great limousine ride through the city where we spent the weekend.

I’ve recently started on the Ketogenic Diet, and I must say I feel like a rock star! I run everywhere, whereas I would normally walk. I jump out of bed in the morning, coffee is optional. My mood is always steady, and I don’t get cranky. And I never get that middle of the day feeling of wanting to crash. I miss pigging out on snack cakes and ice cream, but that’s okay because the way I feel more than makes up for it.
And the belly fat? Melts away in weeks. And I’m not even working out these days. I would be a best in no time if I was. Lots of people love to sit around and question things like the ketogenic diet, saying that you’ll get very sick or shut down your liver. Let’s just stop entertaining stupid, negative nancy thoughts and look at the facts.

Every now and then comes a time when we have to roll up our sleeves and take care of some real “man stuff.”
Yeah, that’s right. Even the ladies have to do their man duty from time to time. In this case, it was some maintenance on my motorcycle that needed to be done. It wasn’t running right, and I had to replace a few parts.
It was hot, I was tired and not in the mood. But I knew there was work that needed to be done so I could get back on the road again. Something had to be done. So what did I do? I got to a serious weighing in of my options and came to a conclusion.

So I was cruising down the highway on my Harley Davidson 883 Iron, the wind blasting me at seventy miles an hour. My hair was all kinds of screwed up but I didn’t care! Just the feeling of gunning the throttle, the thunderous roar of that iron shod monster warning all lesser beasts of my presence was enough to make me feel fantastic. All thoughts and fears were left behind in the dust. I remember something a cave diver once said about feeling cleansed after a long, dangerous dive because you can’t go in there with things on your mind. A motorcycle isn’t so different. You have to FOCUS. Your phone ringing, email notifications, even that itch on the back of your neck is the farthest thing from your mind in that moment. You’re free.
